Success: Guinness bodypainting record numbers achieved... Again!
Thank you to everyone who participated!
We received word from the London headquarters of Guinness World Records (11 months after the record attempt) confirming that we did indeed set a new world record under the category “most bodies painted” and were awarded a certificate of recognition. We will be listed in the Guinness online database, but it is unclear as to whether or not we will appear in the book, as Guinness receives about 60,000 record attempts each year, too many to list in a single published volume. Our record of 264 painted bodies set on July 21st, 2007 right here at Brushwood breaks the existing record from February 2004 set by the Pikeville, KY basketball team. Unfortunately, our 2006 record attempt number of 337 painted people is still unrecognized by Guinness at this time. There was an attempt to beat our record this past July 4th, but they were unsuccessful. Our record still stands!
We owe a great debt of gratitude to all the Brushwood folks, especially Teresa, Dave, Frank & Darlene, without whose support and patronage we could not have accomplished this goal. Thank you to everyone that helped in a thousand ways, and also to those that agreed to get painted. We have about 100 photos of you that appear on our computer screen savers, so we see your smiling faces every day!
DVD with Movies, Photos, and more Available!
During both the 2006 and 2007 Guinness World Record attempts we made some movies that capture a lot of the smiles and laughter of the events. Lots of spectacle and color and fun times. We’ve put these all on to a DVD that is now available for purchase. Plus, we’ve got about 800 photographs from several photographers, including shots of the “living mandala” and the “peacock”. Additionally, there is a supplemental bodypainting section with hundreds of examples of bodypainting art in movies and photographs, including work that has appeared at Starwood and Sirius Rising in years past.
We’ve created a very limited number of these DVD’s, so don’t delay. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
$20.00 (includes shipping and handling). You can also order by mailing a check or money order to Scott Fray. P.O. Box 2293 Reidsville NC 27323. Interested in more info? Send us an email.
